Peter Gooch Description

Peter Gooch was born in 1947 in Ann Arbor, MI. He graduated from University High School in 1965 and attended the University of Michigan from 1965 to 1967.
In 1967 he accompanied his father to India and Nepal on a Horace Rackham Research Grant from the University of Michigan. In 1968 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served at Wheelus Air Force Base in Libya and at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota until 1972. From 1973 to 1978 he attended Eastern Michigan University where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science in English Literature and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. In 1983 he enrolled in a Master of Fine Arts degree program at Western Michigan University, recieving his degree in 1985. After teaching part time at Eastern Michigan University for one year, he moved to Dayton, Ohio to teach at the University of Dayton.
He has served on the Board of Directors of the Ann Arbor Art Association and the Michigan Water Color Society. He was awarded an Ohio Individual Arts Fellowship in 1988, as well as two summer research fellowships from the University of Dayton in 1989 and 1991. His works are found in several public collections, including the University of Michigan Museum of Art, and in numerous corporate and private collections.
